Beginners Courses

Our experienced coaches run beginners courses throughout the year. These courses run for four weeks, one and a half hours per week, on a Wednesday evening. Places must be pre-booked* -email us. Archery is a sport suitable for young and old, for the supremely fit and those less so. Archery is a very rewarding sport, it allows for personal improvement and gentle exercise. Although the club is not overly competitive there are regular opportunities to test yourself against other archers, whether in-house or at an external competition.

We teach all ages but require children to be aged 12 years and above, accompanied by a responsible adult**. The only requirement is that the child is able to concentrate for an hour and a half and follow instructions. All of the coaches are CRB checked and the club has a child protection officer.

Course fees include all necessary equipment and insurance.

At Romsey Archers courses are run using takedown recurve bows - these are the type commonly used in major competitions and are a great starter bow. A normal course will have a small number of pupils per coach. The teaching is conducted by GNAS qualified coaches and experienced archers.

After completing a beginners course, participants can join the Club and continue to develop their skills with a team of friendly archers. The current cost of a Beginners Course is £40.

If you would like to come and watch us shoot before making up your mind then send us an email to arrange a time.

*There may be a waiting list for the beginners course. Courses are run when there is sufficient interest.

**Under 18s must have an adult with them during their sessions - you cannot drop off and collect afterwards. The adult need not necessarily be on the course as well.
